Seattle Public Schools filed a 91-page lawsuit against the companies behind TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube for exacerbating the mental health crisis among its students. Here's what you need to know about the lawsuit.

"We want teens to be safe online," Meta Global Head of Safety Antigone Davis told NPR in an email."We don't allow content that promotes suicide, self-harm or eating disorders, and of the content we remove or take action on, we identify over 99% of it before it's reported to us."Jose Castenada, a Google spokesperson, said that the company, which owns YouTube, has"introduced strong protections and dedicated features to prioritize their well being.

"Our students - and young people everywhere - face unprecedented learning and life struggles that are amplified by the negative impacts of increased screen time, unfiltered content, and potentially addictive properties of social media," said Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Brent Jones in a statement.

"Our obligation is to create the conditions for students to thrive and have high quality learning experiences," said Jones."The harm caused by these companies runs counter to that." Right now, the public school system has a very steep legal road to climb, according to Ryan Calo, a professor at University of Washington's School of Law. But if the plaintiffs in the case before the Supreme Court are successful, it could open the door to this kind of argument, he said.

Amazing! Social media is used for work-school and real life socials it’s the opposite of the anonymous shitposting random site concept it was. An ID and regulation is required. If people cannot attach their identities to it they shouldn’t be saying things or talk about it in

social media is very dangerous for young impressionable minds.. i recently deleted tik tok because i was seeing videos that encouraged eating disorders. and also the instant gratification of these apps make it dangerously addictive. it’s not even good for us adults

Some stats for Washington

A whole new batch of Biden illegal Secret documents again today... A quote that applies, “How could that possibly happen?” “How could anyone could be that irresponsible?” “what data was in there that may compromise sources and methods?” Ha ha ha ha ha...🤣🤣🤣 Prision Time!

Looks like big tech didn't donate enough to the democratic party

Lol. I smell a backdoor...

Children shouldn't be using social media. Parents insist on giving toddlers new iPhones though. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Schools force kids to use electronics; then get angry when the kids use said electronics? 😵 And Seattle of all places 🤣

1. It's idiotic in a city that lets drugs and crime flow.

Private companies created these things to commodify the time & attention of people, the laws are written in favor of private companies. Nothing will be done.

It will be tossed…

Once again, government does the job of parents.

That's dumb.

Seattle public schools sue social media companies for allegedly harming students' mental health | CNN BusinessSeattle's public school system on Friday filed a lawsuit against several Big Tech companies alleging their platforms have a negative impact on students' mental health and claiming that has impeded the ability of its schools 'to fulfill its educational mission.' Isn’t the Seattle school system’s educational mission pushing CRT, Socialism (Marxism), Gender ideology and the LGBTQIA+ agenda? I would think social media is helping their cause not hurting it? Especially that darn Wi-Fi thingy. 😂🤣 Use the off switch ffs

Seattle Public Schools' lawsuits over social media harm face tough legal roadLike the tobacco, oil, gun, opioid and vaping industries before them, the big U.S. social media companies are now facing lawsuits brought by public entities that seek to hold them accountable for a huge societal problem — in their case, the mental health crisis among youth. That well may be. But the discovery documents will be fascinating. Waste of money. Because it’s stupid! Nothing does more harm than social justice, racist Leftists agenda, COVID lies and scare, transgender grooming initiatives by Washington schools! You freak kids out, have them on edge 24/7 then try to blame someone else!
