No need to impose travel restrictions in SA as a result of Covid-19 - Health department

When providing an update on the Covid-19 situation and the new XBB.1.5 variant in the country, which sparked public panic in the past few days, Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla said after consulting with the Ministerial Advisory Committee and the World Health Organization , they were advised that there was no need to re-impose any international restrictions.

He mentioned the XBB.1.5 had been detected more in the USA where its prevalence was at about 6.8% and rising, adding:
