Rishi Sunak admits to using private healthcare

Registering with an NHS GP does not exclude someone from using private healthcare.

Critics have accused Mr Sunak of not understanding the pressures faced by the NHS, and Royal College of Nursing general secretary, Pat Cullen, told the BBC: "I think as a public servant, you ought to be clear with the public whether or not you are using private health cover."show that in November last year, 58% of NHS patients were not seen on the day they made an appointment.

The 14 unions - representing more than one million ambulance staff, nurses and other NHS workers in England - have called for direct negotiations with ministers about pay.Pressed on whether he has NHS care during an interview on LBC, Mr Barclay replied: "Yes, I don't subscribe to private provision.

Well he can afford it and it’s one less straining the NHS. It would be more shocking if he was getting ‘freebie’s’ on the NHS

That does not mean he uses the GP.

Wait a min he's a billionaire what do u expect how is this breaking news ...do u think him or his wife wait in hours fir ques .. grow up spam again..

Is that bad? He's a wealthy man. Even I have a private healthcare from work. It feels as if people in UK want their Prime Minister to be a tramp living on the street with a bottle of strong cider...

Don't care!

Why not, if you can afford it. Why eat mince beef when you can afford chateaubriand?

So ? Why would you when worth 750 m ? This is BBC left wing media stirring it , absolutely no story , and personally couldn’t care less .

Why do keep going on about this? Other news channels are actually making fun of you acting like a dog with a bone over this. What’s wrong with him using private health care exactly? If he can afford it why not? It also means the NHS he isn’t using are there for others.

No shit Sherlock…… hardly a surprise

So what? 11% of Brits have private health insurance according to the Kings Fund. And I bet the other 89% wishes it had it too.

I despise the Tories but this is non-story. No matter how much you love the NHS the reality is, and always has been, that private healthcare provides a higher quality service.

What is the problem with that?

Good and so should anyone with his money

I had private healthcare provided by my employer all my working life and have/had an NHS GP. Private Healthcare only kicks in when you are injured or diagnosed with something and referred. What is the problem or relevance of Rishi's arrangement?

And ?

SO. FUCKING. WHAT!! Any of your staff have private health care as part of their employment package?

It is nobody's business who does or doesn't use private health care , Any medical details are private and a personal choice wether rich or poor

I was more annoyed about the NHS Dentist statement in Lincolnshire adults and children cannot get one anywhere .

Admit? Wasn't that obvious.

You'd prefer he used the NHS and take up even more of its limited resources? If he used the NHS people would moan just as loud.

Me to

GOOD ON HIM....IF YOU COULD....YOU WOULD!!! WHO CARES!!

Why is this news?

Don’t blame him, why wouldn’t he!

Apostasy! 🙄

Whats the pro lem here? Most MP and senior civil servamts use Private Health care. Thank goodmess they do as otherwise more people would use limited NHS resources.

And?

‘Admit’? BBC with a tabloid worthy headline. More a daily mail headline no?

He already answered the question by not answering the question.

RishiSunak so you should use private healthcare if the rest of the politicians used private along with other wealthy people it would relive some of the pressure on the NHS so good on you sir for taking the first steps

And……

He should use private health. He can afford it and it removes 1 person from waiting lists.

I don’t care.

oh wow, shocking news 🫢

Iv used both so what, my life his life .. move on

I do aswell

Why do I need to go private I'm already paying over £130 a month from my salary for national insurance

He can easily afford it. If I had his money, I'd go private too. You can give the NHS a trillion pounds a year and it still wouldn't be enough.

So ?. I'm sure the millionaire's at the BBC use private health care.

Surely most ( super) rich people do regularly and also send their kids to private schools

I can’t stand the guy but anybody with money would do the same thing if it was something more important than a runny nose.

Who cares!

Who gives a fuck! Find some proper news that actually matters ffs!

Forcing a Marxist “healthcare” system without any escape is immoral and evil.

Why wouldn’t he? Not surprised at all.. he can afford it so why not. I’m sure if ppl can afford to go private they would

What's wrong with using private healthcare?

Most with private healthcare are. At least 10% have it & use it. Over 50% would like it if they could afford a scheme. Sounds like a slow slide into a US medical type system with only the poor getting basic care.

Oh shock horror! So what🙄 we’ll all need to use private healthcare at some point in the future. No big deal.

Geesh. So what

😂🤡😂🤡😂🤡

Good for him. He certainly can afford it... One less person in the NHS queue.

Point behind private health care is that with a finite number of doctors, theatres and beds those who choose to go private effectively jump the queues. Not a good look if you’re Prime Minister. Even worse if you’ve a history of tax dodging and breaking lockdown laws. 😐

I am a mere teacher who is delighted with the NHS, but when they sent me to a private hospital for an op then I certainly wasn’t complaining.

He also uses a private jet .

Still don’t care..

So do the royal family - maybe it’s having loads of money?

Foregone conclusion……

Admits ? You have to admit it now

I can’t see what’s wrong with that! He’s paying his tax which funds the NHS. On top of that, he not using it and pay additional money to see private doctors. How can that be bad? Jealousy may be?

So If those who could afford private health care used private health care it would be better for those who can't But like wise they are tax payers so entitled to both

A billionaire doesn’t go to the same doctor as the poor people?

Big thrills 🙄

Why’s that offensive? Or even news?

Nothing wrong with that BBC I want my PM to have the best healthcare to keep running the country effectively!

Weasel words

Private health care is frequent option, if RishiSunak takes that option that should not judge him as a PM - stop people dying due to NHS should be his concern

Multi millionaire doesn't wait 12 months for an initial appointment... Really? Shocking...

After saying it wasn't important if he did or didn't

Is this supposed to be a surprise? 🤔

We KNEW. It’s not news

Why is this a bad thing? Surely taking those that can afford to go private out of the overwhelmed NHS is a good thing.

Do BBC employees get private health care as part of their remuneration? I don’t know so this is a real question. Yes or no will suffice.

so what? admit it, if we could afford private we would take it every day of the week. no problem here

Might be registered to antisipate this very scenario but seriously 🙄 Pr team will have registered him. Wonder when his last appointment was 🤔

And?

Cult-party games. IT'S NOT GOVERNANCE.

Shock, horror!!!

Billionaire uses private Healthcare, not exactly news is it?

Spot the tory voters on this tweet. Most people will not relate to Rishi Sunak.

And takes pressure off the NHS, I’m not rich but so do I. It’s not a sin you know.

And……..? Seriously?

So what? We have this debate in Canada. If people can afford private healthcare, that can reduce wait times in the public healthcare system. People don’t understand that.

Unless my infection has been going on for weeks and my doctor makes sure that I am sure of it by a telephone call & not 'mistaken' that I am sick & seem desperate enough , only then do I get an appointment & that too it won't be the nearest hospital from my home.

And?

But is he registered with a Psychotherapist to help him to stop telling lies?

So fuck

Quelle suprise!

Shock horror, how many use a private dentist. If this is coming out of my licence fee can I have a refund please.

So what. They were wealthy before he became PM so why shouldn’t he.

Damn slow news day huh

Just like most people if they aren't daft

No big deal so have.

Who cares? If I had the money he has I would also go private 🤷

Well who didn't quess that?

Multi millionaire uses private health care! Please keep me posted on anymore of your amazing news scoops.

BET ITS A TORY DONOR IN A HURRY ?

He’s an arsehole. We’ll all be using it shortly thanks to the Tories.

OFF COURSE HE USES PRIVATE HEALTH ... AS FOR BEING REGISTERED WITH AN NHS GP ...... THAT IS FOR SHOW AND I'LL BET IF HE WENT THERE HE WOULD BE GIVEN PREFERENTIAL ATTENTION .... WHAT A ''F''ING JOKE THEY ALL ARE

On a human level, looking after your health is to be commended, however it is achieved.

Not really news though….

How many MP's and their families have never used private health care?

I'm shocked I tell you, so shocked.

...and

So what?

I admit using a private dentist after mine went private and there were no NHS dentists left in my city. I feel better now I’ve got that off my chest. I use private water, private electricity and private gas too. Lucky I’m not Prime Minister.

If I had his money so would I, surely it helps take pressure off the nhs.

Rishi is the kid at school who would grass on people all the time.

The man is totally out of touch with the real world Living in his multi millionaire lifestyle

What a surprise. A prime minister not hitting redial 55 times before getting in an hour long queue for a GP gatekeeper to say no appointments for a month

Bet Starmer has as well, pathetic report again!!

Wouldn't you use private healthcare if you had that much money? Of course you would. Don't understand what is the problem?

Someone please tell bbclaurak (quickly) so she can stop retweeting the clip from her interview on Sunday.

So what. I bet half of labour mps are as well Keir_Starmer bbclaurak yes or no?

I bet if there was no private health care then the NHS would miraculously improve.

Tell me which PM in the last 70 years hasn’t had private care! This is a non-news story. Not a Tory btw!

Do you think Starmer gets his anal polyps done at the local general? Doubtful.

Big news

If I was on his wages I would go private too, mmmm, he may be registered but bet he doesn’t hold for 15 mins plus for a GP appointment that is only available in 4 weeks time.

Here’s a thought, fund the nhs properly, ensure everyone has access to world class healthcare, then no one would care if someone went private. It’s the fact people are navigating (in some cases out of necessity) around crumbling systems with money that is the issue.

He gets treatment abroad/ when he visits wife in India as he is none dom in UK at No.10

Yes thank you BBC I could not be able to live without such important news in my life

So what, he can afford it so does it.

How is that even a revelation?! I bet the whole jacked up bunch of them go private, even the ones slinging the mud at him. Yawn.

So what, BBC?

Anyone can register with gp doesn’t mean he uses them

That’s why he doesn’t care about the HNS! 😡

To be fair, IMO tax avoiders/evaders don’t deserve to use public services ✌🏼

Who hasn't? Access to private healthcare is a cornerstone of many corporate remuneration packages.

And?

And what difference is that goi g to make?

Knob?!!

He’s rich why would he take up space for people who cant afford it. Also would mean using our tax money for his healthcare when he dosent need it…This is top 5 worse and most pointless stories ive seen on the bbc

If he uses private health care, why is he registered with an NHS GP? If he left, it would make a space for a deserving person.

Quelle surprise.

'Admits'.

So basically he is registered with a GP but would 'go private' for any treatment needed, hardly surprising, and no doubt the same situation as the majority of MP's. The fact that they are financially in a position to pay or have medical insurance is....

So do I& many others. What’s wrong with that?D

don’t care

'Admits' ?

Its common knowledge.

so? upto him, dont blame him

And rain is wet

So what

The crazy part in the UK is I have good private health insurance. But, I can’t use it until I see an NHS GP first 😳😖. Makes no sense.

Whats the problem here?

Being a millionaire I would too

No surprise there.

why is it an issue that someone who can afford to use private healthcare chooses to use it, I’m lucky enough to receive it through my work package, there’s bigger stories to cover out there I’m sure notnews

The NHS weren't able to help his piles............of problems

“Admits”? It’s hardly a criminal offence. Indeed, it’s positively altruistic.

Total non-story. If anyone wants something done quickly they HAVE to go private. Whatever the cause of it, the NHS is incompetent from top to bottom and is practically unusable.

How is this a problem 🤷🏻‍♂️. Surely one of the wishes of the Labour govt is that the wealthy should not clog up the NHS’ tight resources ?

Sssunak floundering as he attempts to shed yet another skin! What a useless creature the Tories have discovered. There again, there's plenty useless creatures in their squad of oafs and thieving vermin.

Why does this even matter?

So what

Saving the NHS money. Good.

He will never know what it’s like to sit up a over crowded A&E full of people who are in desperate need of being seen , left to sit in the same chair for 12 hours feeling hopeless … ToriesDestroyingOurNHS

Excellent so should all the rich millionaires take pressure off the NHS

So what? Would be more surprising if he didn't use private care...

banMillionairesFromGov

So what. I would if I had his money
