Seattle Public Schools is suing Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat for exacerbating the mental health crisis among its students.

"We want teens to be safe online," Meta Global Head of Safety Antigone Davis told NPR in an email."We don't allow content that promotes suicide, self-harm or eating disorders, and of the content we remove or take action on, we identify over 99% of it before it's reported to us."Jose Castenada, a Google spokesperson, said that the company, which owns YouTube, has"introduced strong protections and dedicated features to prioritize their well being.

"Our students - and young people everywhere - face unprecedented learning and life struggles that are amplified by the negative impacts of increased screen time, unfiltered content, and potentially addictive properties of social media," said Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Brent Jones in a statement.

"Our obligation is to create the conditions for students to thrive and have high quality learning experiences," said Jones."The harm caused by these companies runs counter to that." Right now, the public school system has a very steep legal road to climb, according to Ryan Calo, a professor at University of Washington's School of Law. But if the plaintiffs in the case before the Supreme Court are successful, it could open the door to this kind of argument, he said.

I’d really like to hear karaswisher and profgalloway discuss on PivotPod

They should sue Fauci as well

So glad to see the leftist democrat groomers, communists and pedos face justice.

I am not defending or attacking anyone, but I thought that social media is public, so it depends on each person how they use it, now if the users are minors it is up to the parents or guardians to maintain control

They said the same things when a TV in every household became the norm. They said the same thing when the internet got popular. Nothing yet has been the harbinger of doom these stories warn us about time and again.

👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

Start with parents and caregivers first. They're allowing this crisis to happen to their own kids.

PewDiePie posted a video of my niece’s Seattle teacher and the school was besieged by bomb threats and such.

That's dumb.

Let’s blame video games too. 🙄

Interesting that they go that route as they're being sued by multiple parents for failing to provide appropriate special education services to students and as Seattle is closing psychiatric hospital beds for children and adolescents.

No Twitter in the lawsuit? Twitter is the scary one that is killing America, I thought.

Get your children out of government schools
