Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s National President Trent Twomey says those most affected by the shortages are people that have “some sort of healthcare or concession card” for essential medicines.

“If pharmacists are doing what they do … they’re substituting things to keep you on the medicine your doctor’s prescribed, you lose that government subsidy,” he told Sky News Australia.

“So we need to make sure not only can we keep you on the medicine your doctors prescribed, but it should be at a price you can afford.”
