Gov threatens legal action against Cumberland MLA who sought investigation into ER death | SaltWire

A collection of family photos of the late Allison Holthoff. - Aaron BeswickA request to Nova Scotia Health Minister Michelle Thompson for an investigation into Allison Holthoff’s emergency department death has landed Cumberland North MLA Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin a threat of legal action.“I’m reaching out on behalf of residents of Cumberland North regarding the recent death of Allison Leah Holthoff at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Dec. 31, 2022.

“I am writing because I understand that the correspondence, which contains personal health information, has been shared on social media,” the letter reads. “I’m asking for compassion and support and help. And I’m asking for action, not intimidation tactics. What the family and what our community is looking for is for compassion, and caring. They want to know that there’s going to be an investigation. They deserve that.”

“I do not think the Department of Justice would have done that on their own without political direction to do that,” said Churchill.
