Full-time childminder Kerry Downey, 44, from Ballymena, Co. Antrim joined Slimming World four times before she returned for a fifth stint in a bid to finally lose weight - and learn how to keep it off - for good.
“What spurred me on this time is a consultation I had with a doctor about a surgery I needed for endometriosis. The surgeon said I was too fat and that was why I had endometriosis. I was so gutted when I came out of that appointment because I knew it wasn’t true. “In 2018 I turned 40 and I had lost three stone by then. A couple of months later I was told I’d need a hysterectomy. I was in pain every single day for 20 years, it was so debilitating, but I was still sad. I was never able to have children because of the endometriosis but when you’re told you’ll definitely never be able to have children it was sad.
After taking six weeks off to recover from surgery, Kerry continued her weight loss journey and went on to shed another two stone.
