Analysis: Amid the relief of completing their studies, there is concern among educators, and the graduates themselves, that the newly minted doctors may not be properly equipped for their jobs.

The final two years of medical school in Canada are designed to expose aspiring physicians to the basics of clinical medicine in a variety of real-world settings. This is when medicine moves out of the lecture halls and libraries and into operating rooms and examination spaces in bustling hospitals and clinics.

At least he was able to complete most of his training in a pre-COVID system. For students who came after him, the differences were more pronounced. “We are noticing knowledge and experience gaps in graduating students,” says Dr. Joel Kennedy, an academic division head of Hospitalist Medicine at Lakeridge Health and in-patient physician and administrator with Lakeridge Health in Durham Region.

On a more positive note, Dr. Das acknowledges that students have had to be adaptable and resilient, and seem more technologically fluent than their predecessors. “They may have an advantage over some established physicians when it comes to the growth of virtual care,” he says. The limitations aren’t confined to students. Medical schools, in turn, are choosing graduates for specialty training without full knowledge of their skills.

There is no COVID learning gap, or pandemic learning gap. Only lockdown learning gap, online education learning gap.

10 000+ trained healthcare workers - most with 10 years plus experience ie mostly nurses were fired from their jobs because of vaccine refusal. In their place nurses who remoted 'learned' - never so much as took a temperature or did a co-op take their places.

you cheered the covid response, all the mandates, restrictions, lockdowns. Never questioned any of it. You continue to silence scientific debate. You still push propaganda. There is a mountain of evidence of harm that had been caused by all this. You are complicit.

Yes, new doctors and anyone else who was forced out of the classroom and onto Zoom. Especially kids. Suggesting that two years ago made us extreme right-wing conspiracy theorists, though.
