Posting a photograph of himself and his beloved canine companion Tiger to Twitter, he wrote a message sharing his current status. “Hi, myself and Tiger want to send you all Christmas wishes. But I need to be honest, over the past couple of weeks my MND has started to spread to my limbs and I don’t know how long more I will be mobile for, and survive for. Since sharing his diagnoses in an interview with Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show last year, Charlie has been a fierce advocate for people with chronic illnesses and has worked to raise awareness for motor neurone disease.

He also raised more than €3.2m for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House with his venture to climb Croke Patrick, with groups across the country taking part in walks, hikes and climbs to rally the funds.Read more:
