: It is not presently possible to travel beyond 4,000 kilometres on a single flight with electric and hybrid planes. But a major key to net zero by 2050 should be more biofuels for long-haul jets.

Biofuel technology already exists and I believe it is a more sustainable and feasible carbon option. Hydrogen-powered commercial jets are in the early stages of development. Commercial flights of up to 7,000 km are possible with the only emissions being water vapour.Dave CranmerI think most Canadians would be happy with a regular passenger train service that could travel at 100 to 120 kilometres per hour between major cities, rather than use automobiles.

Such a project could be funded by carbon fees collected from transportation fuels, so that we all benefit in the long term.
