Here’s why erythrodermic psoriasis requires immediate treatment.

To confirm a diagnosis, a doctor will perform a physical exam and evaluate your medical history. “There are no specific diagnostic criteria,” Dr. Bordone says. “Instead it’s the recognition of widespread, overwhelming psoriasis over a person’s body accompanied by full-body symptoms of inflammation like someone might feel with a virus such as influenza.” The doctor may also perform a skin biopsy, which involves taking a tiny sample of skin to examine under a microscope.
