State officials ultimately decided to euthanize P-22 at 9 a.m. Saturday morning due to serious health issues. Here is what we know about the mountain lion and his deteriorating condition

A Chihuahua killed in the Hollywood Hills was the victim of L.A.'s famous big cat, P-22, authorities said.

“I don’t know if you’ve ever seen any video of a mountain lion attacking a deer, but it is a rigorous experience for everyone, including the mountain lion,” Vickers said. “They have all the aches and pains and arthritis and things that we have.”A pathologist from the San Diego Zoo and a mountain lion disease specialist doctor from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife will conduct a post-mortem examination, said senior wildlife veterinarian Deana Clifford.

Then P-22’s body will be sent to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles County, where he will be examined by Miguel Ordeñana, the scientist who first discovered P-22 in Griffith Park in 2012.

So sad, but an animal who is in pain and suffering is horrible. I had to euthanize my cat when his kidneys were shutting down and he was suffering. It is a difficult decision.

Useless bunch cant even find a sanctuary for the poor animal. Humans should go extinct rightfully so.

😭

It seems actually easy to them. They do it all the time.

RIP

So long P-22. Thanks for the memories, you won't be forgotten. Have a good journey. p

We shall avenge him.
