Revised at 4:31 p.m. to include comment from Connie Jo Clampitt's attorney.
Barnard, 39, and Clampitt, 51, each face one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud, 10 counts of healthcare fraud, seven counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, the office said. Barnard allegedly used his position as a contract lab technician at clinics to surreptitiously obtain patient names, addresses, birthdays and insurance information, prosecutors said. He and Clampitt then showed insurers that patients had COVID-19 testing performed at sophisticated diagnostic labs, but no testing was performed and the labs did not exist, according to the allegations.
