The Department of Health recorded a total of 8,292 cases of COVID-19 from Dec. 5 to Dec. 11, which is higher than the infections recorded the previous week at 7,731. COVID19PH | zacariansINQ

Based on the DOH’s weekly report on Monday, this translated to a daily average of 1,185, seven percent higher than the previous week’s cases.Only six, or 0.07 percent of the newly registered cases, were then tagged as severe or critical, bringing the active number of severe or critical cases to 650.

An additional 134 deaths, however, were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll — 34 of which occurred in the past two weeks, while the rest were backlogs recorded as early as June 2020.
