In its weekly flu report, ADPH noted that while the rate of influenza spread has decreased in every region in the state, the death toll has risen from 13 people as of the week ending on Nov. 26 to 24 people as of the week ending Dec. 3.

ADPH recommended everyone over 6 months old receive a flu vaccine to best prevent against the virus, adding that the vaccine is especially important for adults ages 65 and older, children under 5, pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems, and people with chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.Wash your hands often.Practice other good health habits like cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, getting plenty of sleep, being physically active, drinking plenty of fluids and eating nutritious food.
