A New South Wales teenager has died from meningococcal disease after attending Spilt Milk in Canberra.

The confirmation comes after ACT Health on Saturday issued a public health alert over a case who attended the music festival on November 26.

A warning was issued after a teenager who attended Spilt Milk in Canberra was infected with meningococcal. If you suspect meningococcal disease, don’t wait for the rash – see a doctor immediately.”

Meningococcal is uncommon due to widespread vaccination and can occur year round but increased infections are often seen towards the end of winter and early spring.
