The Scottish Government has taken control of a health board amid concerns about its leadership, out-of-hours services and unscheduled care.
He added: "We have been engaging with NHS Forth Valley for some time on a range of performance-related issues, including concerns around GP out-of-hours services and unscheduled care. The common barrier to improvement in these areas is governance, leadership and culture." And in July last year doctors and nurses at the hospital said patient safety had been put at risk by a toxic culture of mismanagement and bullying.
Jackie Baillie, Scottish Labour's health spokeswoman, repeated her calls for Yousaf to resign and said the "crisis" at the health board was "symbolic of the wider crisis in the NHS. Sandesh Gulhane, the Scottish Conservatives' health spokesman, said the trust being put into special measures "should have come last year when the allegations of toxic bullying emerged".
