The James Paton Memorial Health Centre in Gander. - SaltWire NetworkOn Nov. 7, I visited the Gander emergency room to visit my brother-in-law, who was brought in by ambulance with a severe medical condition that will require him to be hospitalized for the next several weeks. That was the first time in the past year-and-a-half that I had been in the hospital.
I stood there for several minutes watching doctors and nurses busily going about their duties, with paramedics bringing in more patients, before deciding not to interrupt them. It was at this point that I truly understood the dedication of the medical staff, doing what they do. Financially, I do not know what they make , but I do know that money cannot be the only reason the medical staff do what they do. Compassion definitely plays a major factor.
