They have limited access to private insurance and hospital visits, she said, and many fear speaking out about work conditions because they need to support their families back home."Sometimes a worker is injured on the job, and their employer doesn't want to take them to the hospital, so sometimes workers will reach out to us to see if we can support," said Gomez.
"The province is not involved in those discussions or decisions," said Perrault, adding all patients in the province will receive needed health care. He said if a SAWP worker wants to remain in Canada due to an ongoing injury after the program ends, they can submit an application to an IRCC processing office to extend their status or change the conditions of their status.Gomez said workers who contribute to the Nova Scotia economy should be able to access free health care like any Nova Scotian.During the provincial election last year, about 100 temporary workers shared their concerns about the system.
"It all works fine if people are healthy when they get here and healthy throughout their time here," Wozniak said. There is no way someone working for $15 or $20 an hour for eight months can pay an $80,000 bill, Wozniak said.
MAID offered yet ?
This is a humanitarian question not a question of the rules of the day. The appeal should be considered on this basis. I would hope that there is room to save a life.
Health care is not free in Nova Scotia for citizens born here why would it be free to a foreigner
if she has the money for the treatment then let her stay if not our healthcare isn't really Free as the world presumes, we pay for it in our taxes and add to it in insurance bills
An essential seasonal farm worker Fixed it
Everyone arguing that this woman should be left to die because treating her cancer would cost them in taxes sounds completely sociopathic. I’m terrified that I even live in the same country as these people.
This kind of visa is inhuman
People need to understand she’s not Canadian. She’s a seasonal worker and has a predetermined date to go home. It’s unfortunate but you’re not a citizen of Canada and privy to our system. Jamaica has theirs and you are welcome to that system. It’s simple.
I genuinely pray that she gets healed... but there are Canadiens that have been waiting for years to get a specific surgery and are still on a wait list, how is this fair?
Ppl take advantage of Canada left right and centre.

She has probably paid more taxes than half the Yahoo's on twitter that spend their days complaining and arguing.
JustinTrudeau Can you not help here?
Sorry, not your Country, not your free healthcare. What's next? Free healthcare to people visiting the Country as tourists? Jfc.
Of course she wants to stay ! Our tax dollars will pay for all her treatment
Those Canadian cancer patients on year long waiting lists want to live too.
Sad, but I’m confused why the expectation of entitlement. Given work, free place to stay by employer well after her contract, and she refused a free flight home. She’s taking advantage of Canada. Send her home.
If she has actually worked in Canada, I think she should be allowed to stay for treatment. Now the illegal immigrants who get paid to stay in Canada should be sent back to their homeland and apply to enter Canada.
Interesting what a 5 second Google search yields.
I'm familiar with this program. What isn't mentioned is that they have very few expenses. All accommodations and meals are paid for. They can save thousands working a seasonal job and the money is a fortune in their homelands. Many return year after year.
I don’t give a toss! If I have to pay more for the carrots she picked: be damned. You’re here as labour not to expand our health care coverage. cdnpoli

Unfortunately, Canada isn't taking care of Canadians and isn't in a position to take care of anyone else.
Canada has single-use people now. As soon as we’re done using you, we toss you away.
Anyone in Canada can get healthcare. But not everyone is entitled to have it covered by taxpayers. If she can't afford it she would be better off in Jamaica.
I am so sorry for this woman who has been working and supporting a Canadian farm. I feel that if a person is working here, they should be entitled to healthcare as well. That would be fair. Or at least for a period of time, such as six months to a year.
