The two major parties are sparring over health policies, but some Liberal sources are questioning the strategy

Victorian Liberal leader Matthew Guy has made a series of announcements on health ahead of November’s state election.Victorian Liberal leader Matthew Guy has made a series of announcements on health ahead of November’s state election., announced his government would pay for the degrees of more than 10,000 nursing and midwifery students in August, dozens of frontline health workers joined him.

Within hours, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation’s Victorian branch backed Labor’s plan, and said the Coalition’s announcement and dollars “don’t add up”. “Their plan lacks detail, has no timelines and it is silent on committing to legislated nurse/midwife patient ratios exposing a shallow understanding of what’s needed or how to support a workforce during a pandemic,” branch secretary Lisa Fitzpatrick said.Fitzpatrick says she met with the opposition’s health spokesperson, Georgie Crozier, in early July and “election commitments were not discussed”.

“I’ve only met Mr Guy once, in the parliamentary dining room when I introduced myself prior to the 2018 election when he was opposition leader. I’ve not heard from him since,” Fitzpatrick says. What’s more surprising is the opposition’s relentless pursuit of an election fought on health, despite little support from those on the frontline and the party’s reputation for cutting staff and services, which dates back decades.

Since June, the Coalition has pledged to build or upgrade 15 hospitals, including $900m for Melton hospital, $900m for a new 275-bed Werribee Royal Children’s hospital, $550m to rebuild Caulfield hospital, $400m for a new infectious disease hospital and $400m to upgrade Maroondah hospital. Matthew Guy despises Victoria’s healthcare workers. He dismisses them as “minions” of Daniel Andrews.

Because they have bought into the medication/pharmaceutical sh*t too much and think they are smarter than everyone else.

Not to mention that the Victorian opposition are really bad at maths. $325 million pays the wages of 3000 nurses for one year not 30000 as they promised.

Opposition Shadow Minister for Health Georgie Crozier was a neo natal nurse when the union ordered her to strike with them. Georgie refused, remaining on duty to care for children. The union still call a scab. If union members really care for kids, then vote Dan out.

No one wants to stand with Mathew Guy ….and the hypocrite has blocked EVERYONE in Victoria ffs

I am a retired nurse. I remember ths Libs in government. They are no friend of health care workers. And their present policies sound like desperate Hail Marys rather than a plan. But for me. Mostly. I give you their behaviour during the pandemic. UNFIT FOR OFFICE.

ANMF members should revolt against the union and vote in a new govt. The other side and indeed Victorians will benefit from a change of govt.

It’s helps when Labor bribes them with $4000 each.
