It was hard to miss the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in 2014 that set out to raise money for disease research. And it paid off. A new treatment was funded with $2.2 million in donations.

After your friend spoke a bit and made a pledge to donate money to the ALS Association, a massive bucket of ice water was poured on their head, drenching them as they tried to shake off the cold. And whether it was before or after, each video included a challenge to another friend to do the same thing.

What happened to the rest of the ice bucket funds? Oh that’s right it’s still sitting in an account at the als association. 80 million sitting in the bank feel free to research this

I’m happy to hear but the challenge was originally to donate to the charity of your choice before ALS hijacked it. Let’s be factual

Actually, it *was* just for social media. Biggest case of slacktivism in the past decade because Zoomers wanted views on their Instagram accounts. No wonder the 2010s was the worst decade of all time.

Thats an average raised by each participant of $0.30

At least half those diagnosed with ALS (actually much more than half) also have Lyme Disease.

That may or may not be effective…yay
