SaltWire Network | Posted: 5 hours ago | Updated: 5 hours ago | 3 Min ReadSYDNEY, N.S. — Nova Scotia Health’s Eastern Zone will continue to provide emergency and urgent care at its sites on Tuesday as it continues to recover from Hurricane Fiona.www.nshealth.ca/temporaryclosuresSurgical services across the zone will focus on emergencies only. Elective surgical procedures and endoscopies are cancelled for Tuesday. Efforts will be made to contact patients directly to reschedule their procedure.

Most Mental Health and Addictions program appointments will continue as scheduled however some of our community clinics remain without power. This means some appointments may be relocated or done virtually. Clients are asked to call ahead, if they can, to confirm or reschedule their appointment. The provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.

Other services impacted on Tuesday include COVID-19 testing clinics which remain closed. Staff will be deployed as needed.Cancer care and renal dialysis continue as scheduled. Appointments for lab collections and diagnostic imaging will also continue as scheduled. While the focus for Tuesday remains on emergency and urgent care, staff are expected to report to work as scheduled and could be deployed to other services to assist with care.
