A project spearheaded by the Piktukewaq Chapter of the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association has won the Ed Bowden Community Wellness Award. | SaltWire

In 2021, the Piktukewaq Women’s Association received wellness funding from the Pictou West and the Central and East Pictou Community Health Board for the project called From Seed to Table. The project landed the group the Ed Bowden Community Wellness Award – accepted by co-chair Karen Boyles. “We are learning what goes into growing a garden, what plants like to be grown together, and how to use the fruits of the harvest in a variety of ways,” added Boyles.
