The National Youth Commission (NYC) invites participants for an upcoming mental health online discussion on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The National Youth Commission invites participants for an upcoming mental health online discussion on Saturday, Sept. 24.This is in observation of the Suicide Prevention Awareness Month celebrated annually every September.

Interested participants need to register on the registration link posted at NYC Mental Health Youth Hub’s official Facebook account.The commission also announced the guest speakers for the event; Dr. Joan Mae Perez Rifareal from Veterans Memorial Medical Center’s Department of Psychology, Myra G. Gahid RPM, RPSY from MedGrocer, and Eunice Jean Patron from Project SMILE.

In line with this year’s theme, “Creating Hope Through Action,” NYC and the speakers will focus on topics such as effective suicide prevention solutions and how people can create hope through action.In a report by the National Alliance on Mental Illness , September is the month in which various organizations raise awareness and discuss issues surrounding mental health and suicide.

“We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help,” said NAMI.
