The Katsina State Government has imposed an immediate state-wide ban on the consumption and sale of shisha and other non-medical substances. In a statement released on Friday in Katsina, the state Director of Information, Buhari Mamman-Daura, announced the prohibition. He said that the Innovative Inhalants Order 2022, which was signed on September 5 by Governor Aminu Masari, included a ban on shisha and other unconventional intoxicants.

In a statement released on Friday in Katsina, the state Director of Information, Buhari Mamman-Daura, announced the prohibition. According to the Director,"This is in accordance with the powers conferred upon him by the provision of Section 5 Sub Section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended.

He claimed that the government made the decision in light of the state's growing youth shisha addiction.
