By The River Bakery was cited for a number of Public Health Act violations during a Sept. 1 inspection,, keeping the facility designed in a way that prevents access for insects, personal hygiene issues among the staff and employees behaving in a way that may personally contaminate food. In an email to SaltWire Network on Sept. 9, Ryan Neale, manager of environmental health for the Chief Public Health Office, said a health order was issued to close the premises until “the dangers to public health have been eliminated, reduced or controlled.’’Neale said inspectors were back at the bakery on Sept. 9 where the business was ordered to remain closed.
“A re-inspection was completed on Sept. 9. The inspection was unsatisfactory,’’ Neale said. “The operator of the premises was directed to remain closed under the current health order.’’ The list of violations on Sept. 1 also include the following: failure to follow proper handwashing practices; failure to provide food, water and-or ice from an approved source; failure to receive, store, process and-or transport food or food packaging materials under conditions that prevent contamination and adulteration; failure to provide or use proper storage for personal belongings; and failure to maintain the premises and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
