The Departmen of Health is pushing to extend the state of calamity declaration due to Covid-19 to prevent any disruption in their measures to mitigate the pandemic.

The EUA issued by the Food and Drug Administration allows the government and the private sector to use Covid-19 vaccines, which have yet to secure a Certificate of Product Registration . Vergeire said no less than President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. said he supports the extension of the State of Calamity to amend Republic Act No. 11525 or the Covid-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021, particularly its provisions for procurement.

Last Monday, Vergeire said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council decided to officially recommend to Marcos to extend the State of National Emergency due to Covid-19.
