We're 2 guys that work from home. We are both 50. Our Health insurance premium for 2019 per month is $2300. Plus a $7K deductible before our insurance kicks in. So that's $34K before insurance insurance starts to cover anything. We are being ripped off. We really need to protest!

KayKosmos Definitely not a young/old issue it’s an problem in the USA

KayKosmos I believe that!

KayKosmos If you are self insured, you do NOT realize the cost of health care!! It’s something you budget in and realize it’s a huge compromise to have it!!

How horrific...and inhumane. USA healthcare humanrights

No kidding MedicareForAll

7 years of teaching later, and I had to save for four years to get a dental check up, and who knows how long before I can save for the work that needs to be done!

It must be the third of young people who 1. Either are not working full-time and, therefore, do not have employer based coverage or 2. Are self-employed and cannot afford the Unaffordable Act healthcare premiums.

So much for your affordable care...

KayKosmos I did...couldn't afford it. Cut it last month.

In 2010, Congress passed the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act, POTUS signed it into law and SCOTUS endorsed all provisions of the ACA with some limits on the Medicaid expansion. I thought the ACA was supposed to fix our antiquated healthcare system. What happened?

What was the reason the other 2/3rds didn’t get healthcare?

I'm 62 & haven't seen a doctor since 2003. That was the last time I had employer-based ins. For-profit insurance will never be the answer. MedicareForAll

I'm 52 and put off tests the doctor wants due to cost.

Good thing they have Obamacare.. oh, wait..

morgfair Mine went up 26% this year. Think about that. 26% in just one year. Kaiser is extraordinarily expensive health insurance. KHNews

Of course health care expensive, move to CA. And claim your illegally in this country, probably get free health care then paid by US citizens .

morgfair My cousin put it off. My cousin died.

Poor people have always had to put off even basic medical care because they lacked the money. It is not just a leftover from the Depression-era toughness that such poverty bred. It is a fact bred anew and reinforced every day. Why should it be so?

Delayed 4 years for a non-life threatening surgery. Would have meant not being able to be a full-time student for a semester, even with insurance.

I just got an appendectomy due to appendicitis. My final bill came out to $110,000.

Just going to leave this here

I don’t think this is limited to this demographic. I (35) have a couple of chronic joint issues that, if I still had an HMO w/deductible like the in 90s, I would have had fixed when injured, but the deductible now is thousands, on top of the monthly cost. Truly ridiculous.

That every elected official does not feel deep shame about this is mind boggling.

This had been going on for decades! Let us end this once and for all! Medicare for all!

lizzieohreally Why the fuck are we putting up with this? We should be striking/boycotting & take our power back. The people who run these companies truly don't care if we die...we need to tear down the whole system & start over. We have nothing to lose; our lives have no value to them.

I was one of those people

With a PPO, anything other than a physical/ checkup is unaffordable. Blood tests? Forget it. Good HMO options don’t exist everywhere

I totally understand, I’m 31 and have healthcare at the expense of buying a house which I was hoping to do in the spring. I’ll have to put it off at least another 6 months to try and save more money.

You needed a poll for that ?

This is why people can’t buy health insurance. Costs are outrageous and deductibles render it useless. ACA
