TRIBUNAL: Abi Balogun was sacked by Cubitt Town Infants’ School in London after she complained about not being able to work from home to help look after her vulnerable son

An East London Employment Tribunal heard that Ms Balogun, a special needs and disabilities assistant at Cubitt Town Infants’During the third period of lockdown in the UK, the single mother had requested to work from home as she was taking care of her son as he underwent treatment for cancer. She was also caring for a school-aged girl.

“All staff apart from those that are themselves clinically extremely vulnerable are expected to attend work. This is the guidance from the DfE.” . But an hour later, Ms. Alcock terminated her contract and told the agency that Ms Balogun had been employed through of her decision.
