As Western University imposes a booster mandate for all incoming staff and students – an effort, it says, is to lessen the risk of COVID-19 transmission on campus this fall -- not all infectious disease experts are on the same page about the benefits of such mandates.

“If you’re going to mandate something, regardless of whether you agree with that person’s individual decision, there has to be a very compelling public health or medical rational for that. It’s just not there anymore for the COVID vaccines and certainly not for boosters.” “The boosters are effective at preventing severe COVID,” said Top, whose research focuses on vaccine safety. She maintains that COVID vaccines currently available are “effective against those severe outcomes in people who aren’t [protected] against Omicron.”

When it comes to the protectiveness of booster shots, Top pointed out that, a couple of months after the booster, “protection against those mild illness does decrease, but effectiveness against severe disease is sustained over several months at least.”

If you resisted the 3 trillion dollar globalist efforts. To shame blame or punish you into accepting an experiential vaccine. That is only now being given a 2nd look. Feel happy about that choice.

Really?

'Rationale', not 'rational'. Write better,

Students going to this university must withdraw their tuition fees. Any place that requires to put a down payment on your fees, then announces a mandate after that is just not a good place to study. Clearly there are undisclosed conflicts of interest here.

Did you know that donors or prospective donors are exempt from UWO’s vaccine mandates? Isn’t that interesting?

Because the medical advice has gone from 'the best vaccine is the one in your arm' to 'Well, it's complicated'. After my third, my (very vaccine enthusiastic) GP said given my health and age to wait until fall and variant specific boosters, which is different from other patients.

Experts are full of 💩 . like CTV .

A responsible government would cut funding to the university. Cannot allow every business/school to make their own mandates.

The vaccines are a joke. Your reporting is a joke. Under a new gov, your propaganda won't exist and Canada will be better off

They all agree that everyone should get a booster. They only disagree about whether boosters should be required. This is a point the antivaxxers will miss entirely.

Like only 95% agree Your headlines suck CTV.

It's ok. Antivaxxers don't listen to real experts anyway.

Great. So it only took you two years to realise there is difference of opinion amongst experts?

When the Infectious disease experts are TOLD their SCRIPT ..it is easy to believe they are lying on behalf of the Government....

The insanity continues..

Let Western U do what they want. They made their decision, duped their students. Now let's see what happens.

I thought they were the experts?

Yes they are. It’s one or many more boosters time, they are all covered with “1 and/or many more”. It’s money. - Modernnnn Knees Knees - Pfizer Axl the Second, Third, Fourth, fifth…

At this time everything should be personal choices. Stop mandating things against people’s will.

I wonder if they feel same way about influenza, polio, TB, pneumococcal, measles, Yellow Fever and etc. vaccines!

Repeat of a rather anemic apples and oranges article one expects to find on a Sunday...Doctor McMaster...yes vaccines won't prevent infection and Professor Dalhousie yes the more shots one has had the lest likely one is to experience a serious outcome...

A stubbed toe is deadlier then COVID is right now.

Doctors were never on the same page. Doctors were just being silenced by their college

Experts , LOL , Dont make me laugh .

Protection against severe disease but not against transmission should be an individuals choice with their doctor .

CTV really trying to revive the COVID narrative 😂 it’s over you fools

“It has become clear that COVID vaccines are not stopping onward transmission” Yeah no sh!t.

The media has made the word 'experts' laughable.

Enough. Move on.

Best part about this article is you put a name to the expert in opposition of the mandates. Every pro mandate expert is un named. Hahahahaha .

I'm certainly glad they weren't around with polio, diphtheria, measles etc. vaccines came out.

Nope and it’s why fordnation has disbanded the last standing department that focuses on COVID

Joke! I’d be worried about spreading STI’s not COVID.

Mandating air filtration &/or masks in classrooms would be more effective with lower cost & risk. The vaccines have proven much more relevant to an individual’s risk of their own acute illness becoming severe than to reducing community spread.

While the McMaster Doctor emphasizes that the vaccines don't prevent infection, the Dalhousie Professor emphasized the more shots the less chance of a serious outcome...a bit of an Apples and Oranges article...

They were never all on the same page. Many were censored for sharing their concerns!

No one should go to western...
