It is understood two people were in the house when the fire broke out. One person escaped from a window before the emergency services arrived and the second was rescued by members of Dublin Fire Brigade.

An investigation is ongoing into the cause of a house fire in a Dublin suburb which has left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

The fire broke out at around 2.20am yesterday morning at a property at Cromcastle Road area in Coolock with emergency services and gardai attending the scene.There was visible fire damage to a front upstairs window which was badly damaged and the glass smashed. It is understood the fire was not malicious but a full investigation into the cause of the fire is taking place.

Gardai confirmed they, along with emergency services attended the scene in the Cromcastle Road area of Coolock at approximately 2.20am. “A number of occupants of the residence were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries,” gardai said in a statement.The scene was preserved for technical examination but the scene has since been lifted.Get breaking news to your inbox bysigning up to our newsletter
