The body gave the pledge during a press briefing in Lagos. Its General Manager, Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, stated that Nigeria needs a committed movement of citizens participating in development to tackle the rising rate of poverty.
Chinye-Nwoko said: “Our mission is to build a healthier Nigeria. During COVID, we found that the health system had a lot of gaps, and we want to see what we can do positively to transform the health system.” She added that NSSF focus is to support vulnerable people because they suffer more from illness and diseases.“We trained healthcare workers on vaccine programme, just as we have helped in the vaccination of 1.4million Nigerians. We also did capacity building for youths,” Chinye-Nwoko said.
She stressed the need to improve the quality of care at primary health centres, disclosing her organization plans to improve the quality of healthcare in more than six states in Nigeria.
