said all new domestic students enrolling in an entry nursing or midwifery course in 2023 and 2024 will receive a scholarship to cover course costs.Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the investment would help ease the "significant pressure" on the health system.
Under the five-year program, students will receive $9,000 while they study and the remaining $7,500 if they work in Victorian public health services for two years. "If you're in Year 12 and you've been thinking about studying nursing or midwifery – go for it. We've got your HECS fees covered," Andrews said."This is a significant step - it's an important and unprecedented investment."A $10,000 scholarship will also be provided to postgraduate nurses to complete studies in specialist areas, including intensive care, emergency, paediatrics and cancer care.
"The best thing we can do to support our hardworking staff is give them more support on the ground – that's why this package will train and hire more nurses than ever before."
So where are the refunds for those who have struggled to pay out of their own pockets? Fairness and equality to all?
And they'll be ready to go in 3yrs, for a problem we have now, great fix Dan! 🤣👍🤦♂️🤷♂️
I’d like my 50k HECS debit wiped too please? Thank you 🙏
Its not free , its taxpayers money 💲💲💲💲💲
. NOT FREE . TAX PAYER FUNDED
It’s not free, taxpayers is forking it .. good bribe Dan Andrew
Imagine being a nurse today, who has to work overtime to pay of your hecs debt working the exact same job and duties as a colleague with less experience than you who doesn’t need to work overtime because Dan Andrews paid for their education for free. Fu3k that!
So they fire hard working nurses and midwives, then they look to replace them with new nurses and midwives who are being paid for by tax payers and after they graduate will work with existing nurses and midwives who have hecs debts to pay. Way to create division. I’d be fuming
Punch in the guts to those of us that lost our jobs because we didn’t want the vaccine. They don’t even have to pay off my hecs debt, just drop the mandates and I’ll come back to nursing.
Nothing from the government is free as their income is from the tax payer..... Essentially you will be paying for someone else to study for free which smacks in the face of everyone who has paid their own way.
Thank you
So people can migrate away after getting degree?
So why is that only Victoria's health system under pressure? Help me because I can't recall
Hahahahhahahhah this won’t happen
Amazing the promises he gives before the election
Great initiative needed in all states.
They could just let those back to work who were fired for not having the shots...
Fantastic idea!
Nice way to get votes 😆😁
how many years of mandated service will be required for each investment? This needs to be a 2 way investment of student and employment
Problem still work with Andrews
Pity that wasn’t nationwide
👏👏👏👏👏
Most of these new nurses taking up the offer will prefer to head and work overseas when graduated anyway.
