President Biden's student loan forgiveness may help medical students chip away at the mountains of debt they accumulate, especially if they still owe from their undergraduate studies.

30% had debt left from before medical school, with a median amount of $27,000.

The four-year cost for medical school for the class of 2022 ranged from $263,488 for public schools to $357,868 for private schools.. That means many should qualify for Biden’s forgiveness program, since the salary cut-off is $125,000.that a pediatrician makes around $198,000 while a cardiologist makes around $331,000.While physicians often become high earners, they still have to go through years of residency training to reach that salary level.

Given the parameters the Biden administration laid out, almost all medical residents and most current medical students should qualify, Matthew Shick, senior director of government relations and regulatory affairs at the Association of American Medical Colleges, told Axios. “$10,000 to $20,000 forgiven in terms of over $200,000 in debt might not sound like a lot, but everything helps,” said Shick. “It’s good to receive that help early in your career in medicine, because then the interest isn’t accruing as long.”

Worst President in 50 years

Ugh

Biden student loan action perhaps explains why many Americans don’t like/respect? him while a niche group of Americans like/love Trump? Biden-tries to make some people happy (wishy-washy) while Trump only cares about his niche group?

This is a dumb post…worried about medical students? Pffft

While colleges & universities enjoy billions in the endowment funds!Maybe they should be forgiving this debt and NOT the American taxpayers? A leadership void exists in D.C.. start fixing it this November…

Its a drop in the bucket for all students. Better than nothing but seriously not much help. Just something elae for the GOP to whine about

So who's paying for the $10,000 and the $20,000 you are forgiving in a student loan who's paying the taxes on them I'm sure it's the taxpayer

Most of them wouldn’t be included in this because they make to much money. Y’all can’t even gaslight correctly.

Medical students debt is truly high for sure, but once they are in practice, they will not be eligible for any reduction in debt because of their high salaries!

Taking money from plumbers to pay back doctor's loans is an odd choice.

They took out the loan. They should have to pay it. Period.

Thank goodness someone is finally giving financial support to… doctors?

Wrong!!! What about those that joined the military and lost limbs or their lives to earn the right to go to college? Why do I pay for someone else’s selfishness? Your body, your choice … your loan, your responsibility

Yes…won’t you consider the poor, oppressed medical students who earn an average of $243,000…
