The Association of Medical Social Workers of Nigeria Lagos State Chapter has trained its members on how to recognise and treat trauma.

The training was organised during the recent annual general meeting of medical social workers, which was held in Lagos, according to a statement released by the association on Wednesday, which was titled, “Assessing and Understanding Trauma in Clinical Social Work Practice.” The ASWON boss, Mr. Osaro Aikpitanyi, stated that the training was organised to teach the public how to recognise trauma.Aikpitanyi said, “Traumatic conditions seem to be on the increase, not just in Nigeria but globally. This is as a result of insecurity, negative economic impact and Nigeria seems to be having its own share of all these problems.

“We as professionals have decided to organise this programme on trauma to educate not just the populace but to update our knowledge on the current issues in trauma care.”All rights reserved.
