International Civil Servant Accuses World of Racism Over Tigray Ethiopia

"I can tell you that the humanitarian crisis in Tigray is more than Ukraine, without any exaggeration," World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Yet, he added, the world was giving too little attention to the Tigray crisis:"[M]aybe the reason is the colour of the skin of the people in Tigray. I haven't heard in the last few months, several months now, even a head of state talking about the Tigray condition anywhere, in the developed world especially.

But the Ethiopian Federal Government has hit back, saying the international civil servant, who is of Tigrayan origin, is guilty of"unethical" conduct and his comments were"unbecoming" of a person who held such a high post. "Nowhere in the world would you see this level of cruelty, where a government punishes six million of its people for more than 21 months by denying them basic services," the WHO chief added.
