We have various camps all firmly entrenched in their positions as to whether the government “got it right” when it came to COVID. So much of that assessment is inherently subjective, anyway. If we can’t even agree on what the right response is and was, or what the goal of the public health response ought to be in the first place, then it’s hard to envision any sort of process that will have widespread public assistance.
Even Kenney himself has conceded that mistakes were made, but it seems like we’re into the realm of the sort of accountability that involves voters, not judges or lawyers. It’s also fair to note that the one public inquiry launched by this government turned out to be a bit of a mess and ultimately a dud. Political motivation is a perilous starting point for this kind of exercise.
