Durham Region officials are warning you to be careful when salespeople come knocking to sell water treatments.Staff say they’ve been contacted by people who have received calls from salespersons looking to gain access to their homes. In the past, they have been known to go door-to-door.

Staff stress that they will not visit your house without sending an official letter to schedule an appointment. If you receive a phone call, you can call the region at 905-668-7711 to make sure it was legitimate. Don’t feel pressured to let a salesperson into your home if they show up outside. You can also ask for identification; all regional employees and contractors should have photo ID on them.Ctrl+Enter
