Malaysia recorded 2,078 new Covid19 cases and 3,290 recoveries on Monday (Aug 22), bringing the total number of active cases stands to 37,696. Read more at

According to the ministry's CovidNow portal, 2,066 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there were 12 imported cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,759,830 cases since the pandemic began. A total of 10 deaths were recorded on Monday with 3 classified as being brought in dead, bringing the total to 36,155.
