Ontario government to announce plan meant to stabilize health-care system ottnews ottawa

Premier Ford has said province is considering all options, including private-sector involvementSylvia Jones, Ontario's health minister, announced the province's plan to

stabilize the health-care system on Thursday. Hospital emergency departments throughout Ontario have closed for hours or even days this summer due to a severe shortage of nurses.

They have never said how much it will $$ and what % these delays will be reduced by. Cannot see how, if shortage of staff in hospitals where are these private care facilities going to get staff. Does the government plan to make it illegal to hire staff from hospitals or clinics?

I have checked out Long Term Care Homes in the past for members of my family. There are some homes I wouldn't put my cat in. Every LTC home should be up to 21st century standards rather than 19th century. I would be very upset if my parent was forced into a substandard place.

You want to privatize health because of your ideology against the wishes of the vast majority of your constituents. So what do you do. You cause the public system to fail by underfunding, then magically come up with the solution your private healthcare contributors always wanted.

Starting tomprivatize healthcare huh?!!

Abortion clinics are private. No one seems to have a problem with that.

another bandaid for a bleeding out Ministry wound..kudos dummies

Welcome to the United States of America!

I suggest that the government should fund the private schools as well. The parents pay twice for their children in private schools. Not only that maybe the curriculum is more in line with what they should be learning to succeed.

Just fund hospitals for these beds. Call them convalescent care. 16 % of Ontario population is over 65. TIME TO CHANGE THE RULES

Moving frail older people a few times is like moving IKEA furniture a few times: a fast road to decline

43% voter turnout is exactly the government they deserve.

Excellent. That's how you begin to fix 14 years of liberal healthcare destruction in Ontario. onpoli

So many are going to have to eat there words when they hear the details provided by the Minister. Was on CHCH NEWS.

Covered by ohip for now then the charges start

You'd better be wealthy ... otherwise you won't be healthy either ... as Ford sells your health to his palls.

Ah, awful.

CBC Wellwellwell

Ah yes. The old - let's ship grandpa off to somewhere where grandma cannot possibly visit solution. Innovative. Who will manage complications for surgeries performed privately?

Holy shit all this bullshit when SylviaJonesMPP and fordnation could just PAY NURSES WHAT THEY'RE WORTH

DavidPiccini by using private health care wouldn't we lose more nurses is our public system to the private clinincs And how much extra $$ has been spent on using nurses from temp agencies in Northumberland this year so far Please answer to your constituents

Fucking sellout seditious traitors

Yes. But would higher rates above OHIP max allowed be still billed directly to patient to pay out of pocket. ?

Private clinics and hospitals already turn day-surgeries into 4-day stays. Patients must agree or not get scheduled. OHIP does *not* pay for that.

In other words, let's create a crisis and then solve the problem by turning Ontario's taxpayers into a personal cash cow. Excellent solution!

Well that's one way to bring back unvaccinated nurses. Once the vaccinated see how much private pays they'll also want to leave 😄

That’s a crappy plan.

Note that SylviaJonesMPP doesn't say how much these private clinics will charge the government... probably will either cost more in healthcare costs or decrease in the number of surgeries... Their 'it will be covered by OHIP' is just a deflection.

CBC Can we reduce the total number of politicians and replace them with qualified private sector business leaders? Impact would likely be amazing!

Funny how they can find ALL these alternative ways to not pay nurses and healthcare workers what they deserve.

Did fordnation knowingly dupe the taxpayer?

The erosion of our healthcare system in Canada is 80% due to Provincial Government. Their willingness to neglect the hard working health professionals & provide them with financial and physical help. They are creating this crisis so as to line their pockets through privatization.

Which ultimately means lots more money funnelled into Doug’s and other politicians pockets by approving more and more private health care facilities. This is a back door so they can quietly privatize healthcare. It’s far cheaper to pay Nurses and Dr’s than private care.

I don’t know who I find more revolting sylviajonesmpp or celliottability they are and we’re both failures as Minister of Health…Ontario deserves better the Sylvia Jones

Another step…privatization.

The depravity of this government has reached yet another high. Their contempt for the average working person is clear, and it's disgusting. Surgeries performed at private clinics but covered by OHIP means the taxpayer pays more for the same service, or cant access it at all.

2 out of 3?

Expect nothing but negative comments. No at least it is a beginning. Liberals will bash..no matter what.

NIAgeing 'However, Long-Term Care Minister PaulCalandra said the legislation would not force anybody who doesn't want to leave the hospital to go, nor would it make 'any changes to the priority waiting list.' Let's hope this is true. LTC

Hey fordnation, SylviaJonesMPP why not spend taxpayer money on our public healthcare system that you've crippled by underfunding for years, as opposed to for-profit private clinics? For the worker my ass. P.s. Where's the over 4 billion from the Feds? JillDunlop1

“sending patients waiting for a long-term care bed to a home not of their choosing.” ? Like out of town ? 600km away from loved ones ?

How about making sure our healthcare workers are properly compensated so they want to stay in the public healthcare system?

I despise the leadership of this government.

This is disgusting. This is literally ship people waiting for LTC away from their families, likely to privately run homes that demonstrably failed during COVID. This is why you should go out and vote and never vote Conservative.

But no rehiring of the wrongfully fired?…k

Yes tweeps, check the stats, folks who need long term care beds are using beds in hospitals. This is a good decision.

Does anyone know the exact number of people who died in isolation, unable to see family members for a final time during the lockdowns? Will future generations view the hysterical policy as a crime against humanity, considering the data for covid was so readily available?

survivaloftherichest

Ontario government announces the continuation of privatization. As well as utterly ignoring patient rights

So instead of just paying docs and nurses more in public hospitals we will pay private exclusive clinics 4x more. These private clinics will not take non-paying customers, they will prioritize those that will pay fees on top of OHIO fordnation needs to go, ResignNow

And those clinics will add additional costs. Do you want meals while you are here? Assistance to washroom? Blankets? These are the fee's.

You too will be able to drive 600 miles to visit your mother in LTC now. Jfc. So wrong 😕

Wierd how the centrally planned system can't function and requires outsourcing to private industry to survive... Who possibly could have guessed?

Stop blowing smoke up criminal Doug Fords arse. You are not fox news . Though Doug Ford does match Donald Trumps criminality.

Canada is 100% best place to be killed by health care system. Proud to be Canadian...🤮🤮

ford government privatizing healthcare right before our eyes. Wasn't even apart of their election platform

Creating leniency on private Healthcare to push the main objective. This isn't okay.

This still does not address the issue of pay for nurses, nor anything else that Ford's government is trying to avoid.

If it's a home not of their choosing then Ontario better make higher standards for all LTC

Where do they think the doctors and nurses for these private facilities will come from?

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, LIES, LIES, LIES fordnation private will cost more, use more tax dollars, means less taxpayer funds for something else. YOU LIE

Bureaucrats, their policies and mandates that were put in place to keep health care from collapsing have made it exponentially worse. Shocker

Start investing in health care companies or start your own. Business is going to boom as Ontario privatizes health care. CBCWindsor TorontoStar
