Fourth monkeypox case detected in South Africa

The test results of a 28-year old man from the Western Cape came back positive.He says they are tracing his contacts.The three other cases were reported in Gauteng, the Western Cape and Limpopo in men aged 30, 32 and 42.

"A polymerase chain reaction test was performed in a private pathology laboratory and the samples were submitted to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases for sequencing analysis," says spokesperson for the Health Department Foster Mohale. "Public health response measures to prevent the spread of the infection, including contact tracing have been instituted."
