Strap on your helmet and get on your bike. The Ride for Mental Health cycling event is back.

The Ride for Mental Health is open to Canadians from coast-to-coast. Its aim is simple: Bring awareness to the mental health needs of veterans, first responders and their families, and raise funds for Wounded Warriors Canada’s mental health services for those affected by operational stress injuries.

The Strava app can help find routes and Ride For Mental Health Cycling Club can be joined. Riders are encouraged to share their route with other riders and to tag @WoundWarriorCA and #rideformentalhealth. According to Wounded Warriors, out of 5,000 first responders surveyed 44.5% screened positive for one or more mental health injuries. Between 15% to 20% of firefighters suffer from post traumatic stress because of repeated workplace traumatic experiences. Ontario has approximately 8,000 paramedics. Studies predict that operational stress injuries affects 22% of our paramedics, they say.
