The apparent increase in stranger attacks can\u0027t be fixed, experts say, without more funding for treatment, counselling and safe supply.

available on the VPD’s website show assaults across Vancouver increased just 3.9 per cent in the first half of 2022, compared to the same time period in 2021. But in the month of June, assaults jumped 11 per cent compared to June 2021, and the bulk of incidents happened in the districts that include the Downtown Eastside and the downtown core.Article content

It has people spooked. Postmedia reported this week that visitors to Chinatown have recently posted negative comments on tourism websites, such as “The VPD’s Visintin said it’s difficult to give advice on how to avoid these random attacks as they are unpredictable. She suggested people look out for one another, always be aware of their surroundings, and be a good witness if they see a crime“We don’t like to hear all these speculations about people not feeling safe,” she said.

The solution? “This is a roof, you’ll live here and you’ll work for it, that or go to this enclosed facility, we will supply your drugs until you die” If politicians don’t do this, Vancouver will become another Mexican city controlled by evil. Remember my words …

This is what happens when you keep feeding seagulls. Eventually they start shitting all over you.

This is the result of an AG that was still representing the interests of his former employer,Pivot. Biased representation sends a horrible message, that can end up like what we are seeing. That same AG is our next premier?

And the world population is growing so suck it up!

The 'solution' offered by the 'legal advocate' you propose goes directly AGAINST the medical and scientific knowledge of psychosis disorders. This article proposes giving drug users 'safe meth supply', this is the *opposite* of medical standard of care for drug induced psychosis

The animals are running the zoo.

Maybe it's time to bring back Riverview?

Social gap is getting way too big in Vancouver!! Violence will only grow…

Give them a choice....treatment centre or prison. They don't belong on the streets.

Let’s do more studies and less action. Free drugs for everybody. Nobody goes to jail. All good for the economy. More social workers paid by taxpayers. How bad does it have to get? I feel it can’t get worse but I’m probably wrong. Regular people aren’t protected.

None of this is new and none of it will advance street safety. What works will never be implemented; so keep talking to the academics, the social workers, and the retired high ranking cops that haven’t been on the street for decades, and realize continued failure.

My guess is that not long from now someone is going to retaliate after being assualted and it won't be pretty.

'Harm reduction'

“safe drug supply” Quite the contrary. An UNSAFE drug supply would get rid of these attackers sooner.

While some impure drugs might cause psychosis - spotlessly clean meth will do the same thing.

'Safe drug supply' just creates more addicts. More walking zombies for the streets of Vancouver.

There are no strangers in Vancouver. I know every single person by smell.

How about getting people off drugs and ending the revolving door justice system?

mandatory treatment - called a medical emergency - no rights -

Why is the solution always more drugs? Harm reduction saves lives in the short term but kills more people and provides much greater harms in the long term.
