We have de facto socialized health in the form of County hospitals. Taxpayer dollars pay for anyone - usually once their illness is at an expensive and catastrophic state - to receive care. These County hospitals are subsidized by their respective State and, ultimately, the US.
The states are on the hook for emergency treatment and for Medicaid coverage after they turn insolvent due to medical bills.
