A regional Victorian resident has detailed a shocking 12-hour ambulance delay which robbed him and his father of a final goodbye, in a plea to the Andrews Government to fix the state's health care system.

Danny Leatham, 92, was taken to Orbost Hospital in north-east Victoria in March after suffering severe chest pains at home.

But that plan fell through and he was then driven 115 kilometres west to Bairnsdale where, after further delays, he was flown to Essendon airport and finally taken to Jessie McPherson Private Hospital in Clayton, where he was forced to wait outside in the ambulance for a further four hours. “He could’ve had good help in the time that was wasted,” Mr Leatham told Sky News Australia Victorian Political Reporter Simon Love.

Following his father’s death, Mr Leatham filed freedom of information requests to view footage of his dad during the waits outside the two hospitals. However, they had been wiped.

By admitting there is an abvious problem is admitting responsibility for the gross neglect over the best part of a decade as both Victorian Health Minister & as Premier. Leading into an election, Dan would rather hide than be a true leader. Victorians are dying, its on you Dan.

Andrews government don't give a shit, never have and never will

The thing with swimmers is, they have very big shoulders. So, very big chips. Well said davymark1 Sport provides so many great and compelling stories without grubby personal stuff.
