Your work will stand the test of time. Always a joy to watch!

Prescription windscreens

Unarguably the funniest man on the planet - even now. Saw him live at the Hammersmith c.1990, thought I was actually going to die laughing. The man did not let us draw breath!

As TheScotsman reported last month...

Best comedian ever. 😘

The 1st I heard of Billy_Connelly was in the early 90s when a friend gave me a boot leg tape of Live in the Apollo. I remember listening to it on the bus & everyone turning around as I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Happy retirement and thanks for all the laughs. Pure genius.

enjoy your retirement , you made millions of us laugh , your entitled to put ya feet up !!!

“Football violence will never end, not as long as they are shitting in our shoes.... and we are pissing in their bovril!”

One of the all time greats, lots of love Big Yin

We love you Big Yin!

Billy&Albert still the funniest thing I’ve seen. Watched it over and over again. Always think of him talking about Reagan when I see Trump. Not sure I’ve heard a better story teller.

We are going to miss ya on the stage mate you were always my dad's favourite .....

A real comedy talent who has inspired so many of today's generation of comics. A very funny guy.

Oh come on! 😔

CameronMcNeish A privilege to have seen him live twice. Rock on Billy🐰

God’s wee helper: ‘whit will we dae wi’ a’ the left over elbow skin?’ God: ‘make wee bags for them tae carry their balls in’. Thanks Billy, still laughing 👍

Thanks for all the laughs Billy, so glad I saw you in Manchester twice! Good luck BillyConnolly

He brought the reality of post war Scottish life and made us laugh at it. Turned dark to light. What a man! Happy retirement, Billy, and thanks for the laughs!

😢

That's the problem with these kids today. Retire early and be a burden on the rest of us

One of the best live performance comedians in my opinion. We have been so blessed to have such a man like Billy_Connolly letting us all in on his stories of growing up in Glasgow🙏

Watched this genius in Winnipeg, nailed it that night. Comedy class stand up. Happy retirement Billy.

Hannibal95 Bless him. A truly brilliant man. Happy retirement Big Yin.

Well earned after a job well done. We'll still always have 'Boondock Saints.'

Billy Connolly is an incredible man and one of the greatest comedians of all time. We love you Billy. The Quinn Clan ❤️❤️❤️

So sad. I'm lucky to have seen him twice live and nearly has a cardiac arrest from laughing both times. His 'Audience With' is one of the greatest ever alongside Ken Dodd.

Who?

Wait, Billy Connolly was still working?

Legend of comedy. Will be missed on the live tours but his health is the most important thing. Happy retirement big yin.

Enjoy your retirement!

Hitler? He's not responsible for this:

It was long overdue...

Used to borrow my mates Dad's cassette tapes of his live performances when I was about 12 lol - loved the Vaseline Salesman joke ha ha.

Not only the best comedian but probably one of the best humans too.

Best of luck to you sir legend

Thank you mr Connolly for the twinkle in your eye and laughter in your soul, it’s been a most wonderful ride!

Britanniacomms Brilliant comedian , arguably best ever . Saw him twice , cried with laughter through both performances. An absolute joy of a man.

NetflixUK You should buy the rights to show his recorded concerts. They would go down a storm!

That is sad news. The funniest man ever.

My comedy hero. An absolute legend. This is sad to read. My thoughts are with him and his family. Oh for Christ sake, he’s not dead! He’s taking time out for himself and deservedly so. Enough said!

Love ya ye big fenian bassa

'The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one' more relevant today than when he said it.

LesStonehouse Not surprising. The last time I saw him perform i felt it would the the last.

Not before time.

I loved Billy_Connolly in 'Mrs Brown' & 'Quartet'. I also loved his singing 'For The Benefit Of Mr Kite' on Sir George Martin's Album 'In My Life'. CAUTION: NUDITY ⏬

Funniest man I’ve ever seen. Cried laughing and thanks Big Yin for the introduction to proper comedy when I was a youngster. Loved every minute.

❤️ him in Head of Class - the last season- funny guy!

still quote him in the summer 'I’m actually pale blue: it takes me a week of sunbathing to turn white.” such a funny guy

Enjoy, Big yn
