Loblaw’s revenue hit $12.9 billion in the second quarter, up $356 million from the same quarter last year. Profit to shareholders is also up.

A Loblaws store in Toronto., Canada’s largest grocery chain, reported second-quarter gains in both revenue and profit, as its new chain of physiotherapy clinics and its drug retail business helped drive up sales.

Net earnings were $428 million, down $6 million from last year. Loblaw said it recorded a charge of $111 million in the quarter, due to aLoblaw hikes dividend by 11% as Canadians dining in boost profit Loblaw noted that its earnings-per-share growth was helped by share buybacks, as it spent $603 million on repurchases in the second quarter alone.
