NEW: Elderly woman waits six hours for an ambulance in Ottawa ottnews

"It was awful because we were feeling that pressure of what can you do and there’s obviously more that you want to do because it was difficult seeing her in that amount of pain every time she slightly moved," said Cathy Deschenes."She realized this is pretty serious and I can’t move," said Deschenes.

Elaine’s family struggled to get her out of the mud and into the garage, trying not to cause her more pain. It was impossible to move her further as they continued to the excruciating wait. There's been a record number of "Level Zero" events in the nation’s capital so far this year, where there are no ambulance crews available to respond to emergency calls.Deschene’s mother-in-law’s condition took a turn for the worse at the six-hour mark. That’s when they called paramedics back and the call was upgraded.

Happened to my mother 3 years ago in Quebec on the border with Ontario. Broken shoulder and hip, 3 hour wait

You can thank Sunny Ways for your health care problems and not Mr Ford!

Why do we need to say women's age in title, how about , a person waited for an ambulance.

We take everything for granted. Pay paramedics enough to make the job worth doing and we can avoid more level 0 moments NeverVoteConservative

I think Doug Ford fordnation should be tagged in all these stories, every single one of them, and it's about damn time media is highlighting them instead of folks continuing to throw themselves into the fray at airports where things are broken for months, this is more important

They’re too busy dealing with sudden heart attacks. Priorities first . Last night 43 year old had heart attack at the soccer game . Rec league. Sad.

This is totally UNACCEPTABLE! What has our healthcare become!!!🥲

This is absolutely disgusting! How can it be that in Ontario, any person would be left to suffer for hours without help. My heart breaks for all residents in our province, this is Canada how is this even an issue.

fordnation Any comment?

Hmmm, isn't the fire dept around to respond for ambulance delays of 10mins or more? I think this is more of mismanagement in that emergency service system. Yes she cannot be taken by fire truck, however, she could have been made more comfortable. Fire dept could relay info to ems

That's what 30% of your pay buys you everyone 🤣🤣🤣🤡 fordnation

Maybe less spending on Covid tests and vaccines would increase funding elsewhere. People can be sick/ catch something other than covid.

Healthcare in Ottawa is on the verge of complete collapse.. thanks to the continued mandates and unchanging pay scale

Missing Trump yet Canada

Billions of Fed money not spent back in 2020 -21 for health care is being used to pay off the debt (apparently) and that beauty highway in Toronto. This is not Municipal this is 100 percent fordnation

Healthcare is just getting so much better is it not. When do you think it will be as important as abortions in a different country ? They are failing everyone. At least they're taking the elderly to the hospital again, during covid health officials denied them healthcare. Fact

This is not acceptable. Now before we jump to conclusions, we must 1st get to the root cause of why this happened again. Once elected Mayor, i will invest in our emergency services & ensuring a reduction or elimination of 'Level Zero'.
