Mammogram guidelines now consider women's personal values not just age, riskNew guidelines for breast-cancer screening are intended to give women more of a voice in their health-care decisions, taking into account their personal values and preferences rather than age and risk factor alone. Cost and labor saving mitigation tool. So, now, under 50 will be asked...'why are you here?'... 'how did you get priority?'...'You don't need a biopsy...false positives' etc. These attitudes will put patients in graves. Values? Values ? Hhuuummmm ! Like .... LIFE or DEATH? There was ZERO bits about “values” in here. Just new guidelines that say doctors should better discuss the chances and risks associated with false positives and ask for consent instead of dictating. Sounds like an improvement, but a sensationalized headline.
