PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 5,047 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (July 16), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Sunday that this brings the new total to 4,619,045 cases since the pandemic began.The CovidNow portal also said that there were 3,770 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 42,481.

Of the active cases, 96.3% or 40,923 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 39 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres . Only 3.4% of active cases or 1,459 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 60 warded in intensive care units throughout the country.
